After two weeks of filming, we finally finished! The next step in the production of a film is editing or post-production. Perhaps less exciting for some but very important. This is the point where the film comes together and you can thank those storyboards and shot lists yet again.

Finishing up filming after two weeks felt surreal. Yet, just because we finished filming doesn't mean we stopped working (or got any sleep). Post production is perhaps the most tedious part of the process.

The first step is syncing up all your audio with your video. If you used your slate correctly when filming and recording you should not have a hard time lining them up. Thankfully we were extremely careful, just because we already knew what was coming our way.

Knowing that syncing would take up a lot of time we decided to split the audio syncing to make the process faster. It may seem insignificant but you and your production team should always use the same naming format for all your files! Adobe Premiere does not know that Scene 12_1 is the same as Scene 12-Take 1.

We were all involved in the editing process in some way. Standout editors are Hannah Jablonski who produced some amazing special effects using Adobe After Effects; Jojo Chen not only created the poster in our home page but the Elapse title screen; and Danny Kilderry put the project together and created some stunning special effects as well.

Your first draft is never your final draft. In total we created 3-4 drafts. Yet, we still felt like we could edit even more.

At the time of our latest draft our Premiere timeline looked like the image to the right. So pretty but so much stress behind it!

Our film is about 20-25 minutes, and that took weeks to edit. So, next time you watch your favorite 90 minute movie think about how hard the editors worked! People behind the scenes work so hard to bring a movie to life. A film is just as good as their editor.

The Media Studies and Production program at Temple University holds an award ceremony, so we decided to submit Elapse....and we got second place!

We are so proud of Elapse and we cannot wait to share it with you. Elapse will officially release on May 2nd at 12PM EST.
