The First Day
Things rarely turn out perfect the first time. We’re a crew that has experience in production but now one that has produced anything together. The first day was the most important since that was the first day we met our actors in person, the first day we met each other, and the first and only time that all four of actors were together.
Our greatest asset was having our shot lists and storyboards prepared for our filming days. We chose a Sunday so we could have the whole day to film. Danny's family graciously let us use their home as Connor O'Malley's childhood home. The feeling of home can definitely be felt in the scenes.
That day was full of different moments. Remember when I said that we ensured our audio equipment worked?
Well it decided to be a bit difficult the first day of production (and future filming days), but after tinkering with it, it was smooth sailing the rest of the day.

On this day we filmed ALL scenes with Jason O'Malley (Robert Fuller), Connor's dad. Robert Fuller is our only actor who had a far commute.
Robert traveled from New York to Philadelphia, so we did not want him to have to travel back and forth multiple times.

We filmed scenes between Connor and Jason at a nearby park. It was comical, the day before was sunny and warm, but the day of filming was overcast and windy. We wanted to film the scenes as fast as possible all without compromising the quality of our scenes.
Eventually we got all the scenes that we needed, so we rushed back and inside and got lunch! Empty stomachs lead to grouchy people so we made sure to take plenty of breaks.
We can't deny that the first day was bumpy, but everything that needed to get done got done. It was a great start to our production days!
Filming Days
The rest of our filming days went well! Hannah Jablonski and her roommates allowed us to use their apartment as Connor's home. We decided it was best to film within the Temple area since we live close by.
The rest of our filming days were a mix of indoor and outdoor scenes. The indoor scenes used various lighting methods. At one point one of us held a light by hand to create that dreamy feeling that we wanted Elapse to have.

For the most part the weather agreed with us. We had two different outdoors scenes involving Connor and Patrick. One was by the steps of Connor's childhood home where we had to hold up our umbrella's and fought the cold, yet again. The other was at a park, where the sky was clear and the weather was comfortable.

Which worked out in our favor because that scene was a very sweet one, and one of our favorites to film. The filming days themselves were not that long, but they were definitely busy.
It's always interesting to see how actors bring characters to life and seeing our actors hard at work was everything we hoped for!
